Tell us a little about your career journey leading to where you are now.
My career spans over 20 years in the financial sector, during which I’ve developed deep expertise in financial management, strategic planning, and operational efficiency. Starting as Director of Administration, I progressively took on larger responsibilities, eventually becoming VP of Finance at The Excellence Collection. Overseeing $1 billion USD in assets and leading financial transformations globally has shaped me into a leader who thrives on driving organizational success and building high-performing teams.
It hasn’t been an easy journey, but it has been a perfect one—filled with learning and growth while bridging two worlds: America and Europe. I was born and studied in the Dominican Republic, though I’ve spent more than half my life abroad, living in Mexico, Spain, and now the Netherlands. I began my career in hospitality as a way to finance my university education, and along the way, I’ve had the privilege of leading teams across different regions from the age of 24. This experience has been, without a doubt, one of the most enriching aspect of my journey.
What does the International Women’s Day slogan “accelerate action” mean for you?
Accelerate action" means actively creating pathways for change. For me, it's about taking bold steps today to build a present where diversity and equality are the norm, not the exception. I believe that this 'accelerated action' comes from a shift in perspective, triggered by the realization that moving forward at a faster pace can and should feel natural.
How important is it for women to lift each other up and what does that mean to you?
It’s essential. Supporting and mentoring women creates a ripple effect that empowers more women to excel. In my leadership journey, I’ve always sought to mentor and guide women in my teams, emphasizing collaboration and shared success.
How important is diversity across senior leadership teams?
Diversity in leadership is crucial. It fosters innovation, better decision-making, and a culture of inclusivity. A variety of perspectives ensures organizations are equipped to navigate global challenges and seize opportunities, particularly in today’s interconnected world.
Diversity, much like collaborative leadership, is enriching. As the saying goes, “four eyes see more than two.” Why not visualize collaborative teams as a great mind equipped with diverse and inclusive qualities? When we embrace this perspective, we unlock the full potential of collective intelligence and creativity, paving the way for exceptional outcomes.
Senior leadership: 26%, C-suite: 19%, 1 in 4: Chief-level. These are the percentages and numbers of female leaders in our industry. What do these numbers represent to you?
These figures highlight the progress we’ve made, but they also reflect the work that still lies ahead. They emphasize the importance of paving the way for more women to step into leadership roles, ensuring that gender balance becomes a reality rather than just an aspiration.
As women, we have significant inner work to do—within ourselves and within our society—to break through the glass ceilings and challenge the beliefs that have held us back. However, I am certain that we are living in the best moment to drive these changes forward.
