What effect does improved wellbeing have on productivity and motivation?
It affects everything you do, from having more energy to get up in the morning, to avoiding the mid-afternoon slump, right up to having the energy to enjoy your time after work. Reality is, when you are performing on point, everything you do is to a higher standard. You also want to do more, both at work and in your personal time.
How do you create a happy, healthy, and productive workforce?
Everyone I work with at Mind Body House is a consultant or contractor, therefore it is always about working in partnership and together. The idea when creating Mind Body House was about collaboration, shared ideas and a huge support for health and wellbeing, on all avenues. Working with specialists in their fields makes them feel valued, which is super important, and offers more to our clientele.
With any workforce, employed or through consultants, each individual wants to feel valued, that their knowledge and experience is appreciated, and to have a balance with the demands of work and their personal life. If the balance is off, then that sets up for an unproductive and unhappy workforce.
Is there any training to support health and wellness in the workplace?
Being a health and wellness company, everyone is very proactive about caring for themselves, and this includes managing their work time and set-up. Every instructor is proactive about their own CPD and training, but they all know they can always pick up the phone if they need support. We will always then arrange what they need, whether it is something as simple as having individuals to teach a new class, or they need something to boost their energy levels.
I also ensure that I arrange social events, even just a cup of coffee (virtually now), so that there is time for work and to be a person too.
What tips can you give employers to help support staff in 4 key wellbeing areas:
Mental Wellbeing?
Take time to meditate and calm the mind - my favourite is a body scan but do what works for you. Even 3-10 minutes each day will add great value.
Financial wellbeing?
Balance income and expenses but stop counting the pennies. Money works through a relationship you have with it - hoarding it creates a scarcity mindset, just like overspending can be frivolous.
Physical Wellbeing?
Exercise is essential, so be intentional and set that time in your diary. Even 20 minutes a day will add great value to your life.
Social wellbeing?
Stay contacted - don't push aside the important calls with friends and family. Book in a weekly call or social event and stick to it. Nothing is too important that it cannot fit with that call
