Interview with Jolene King

Now that a lot of countries are careful planning on coming out of the pandemic, companies are starting to plan for their future.

We are interviewing industry professionals from varied sectors as we really want to get and offer some advice, support, strategy and/or inspiration out there for businesses to get back on their feet.

Interview with : Jolene King, Principal Consultant - 246 King Consulting

Tell us about your biggest challenges in re-scaling post pandemic

I've had to re-assess my consultancy services and determine what is most viable in the current climate. It has also been a challenge building new relationships remotely.

Have you found that your customer base has changed? If so then how?

My customers/clients are mostly hundreds of miles from my location or international. This is due to the global pandemic and also my desire to be a global entity.

Everyone is using technology in new ways – can you give some examples of how this has been adapted in your business No major changes as I was using technology. I'm getting more familiar with newer software and quick hacks which could enhance my business operations, e.g. Canva, Hootsuite.

Employee mental health and wellbeing are very much at the forefront of everyone's thinking. What are you doing within your business to support your teams?

Actively practise self-care and model positive and healthy behaviours. It starts and ends with me.

When looking for advice/guidance/support where do you look?

I have a mentor. My immediate family have always been supported to bounce ideas as well as close friends. I am very connected to subject experts and LinkedIn and Facebook groups of those with similar interests.

What do you think the next 12 months looks like – what are you planning for?

I will soon be publishing a research paper; I'm striving for more growth for my consultancy and more visibility in the media.

If you could go back to Feb 2020 and give yourself some advice – what would you say?

Develop more online courses, reposition for the rapidly changing environment, believe in yourself, be kind to yourself and be consistent.

Jolene, thank you!
