Tell us a little about your career journey leading to where you are now.
From the moment I entered the world of hospitality, I knew it was more than just a career, it was a passion. I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the world’s leading hospitality brands, from the luxurious hotels of the UAE and Qatar to the serene resorts of Oman. My focus has always been on brand positioning, media relations, and creating unforgettable marketing campaigns that elevate guest experience. But it’s not just about marketing; it’s about connecting with people, building relationships, and bringing a brand's essence to life. Over the years, I’ve sharpened my skills in digital marketing, content creation, crisis communication, and public relations strategy, always with one goal in mind: to maintain the core of hospitality, which is about genuine human connection.
What does the International Women’s Day slogan “Accelerate Action” mean for you?
"Accelerate Action" is a call to arms. It challenges us to stop merely talking about change and start driving it with urgency. We need to be proactive, not reactive, in creating an environment where women have equal opportunities. This means using our voices to advocate for gender equity, pushing for policies that open doors for women, and inspiring those around us to take meaningful, impactful actions that can accelerate progress. The time for incremental change is over; it’s time to lead with intention and speed.
How important is it for women to lift each other up and what does that mean to you?
Lifting each other up is more important than it’s essential. As women, we face unique challenges in business, and it is only by supporting one another that we can truly rise. It’s about creating a network of strengths, one where we encourage growth, foster confidence, and champion collaboration. For me, lifting others means mentoring, offering opportunities, and being an active ally. It’s about ensuring women, both within my team and beyond, have the resources, guidance, and encouragement they need to step into their full potential. When we lift each other, we build a legacy of empowerment that reverberates across industries and generations.
How important is diversity across senior leadership teams?
Diversity in senior leadership isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a business imperative. When we have diverse leadership teams, we harness a range of perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds that lead to better decision-making, more creative solutions, and a deeper understanding of the people we serve. Diversity isn’t just about ticking boxes; it’s about creating an environment where every voice can be heard and valued. The diverse teams I’ve worked with have been among the most innovative and successful because they’re able to approach problems from multiple angles and truly understand the needs of their audience.
Senior leadership: 26%, C-suite: 19%, 1 in 4: Chief-level. These are the percentages and numbers of female leaders in our industry. What do these numbers represent to you?
These numbers tell a story of progress, but also a story of the work that still needs to be done. It’s inspiring to see more women in leadership roles, but it’s also sobering to realize that the gap is still so pronounced. These figures are a reminder that we need systemic change: more mentorship, more opportunities, and more focus on breaking down the barriers that continue to exist for women at the top. These numbers drive me to push harder, advocate louder, and work smarter to create an environment where these numbers are not just figures, but a reality where women occupy their rightful places in leadership at all levels.
As a successful leader, how do you think business leaders can accelerate action toward closing the gender gap and ensuring equal opportunities in the workplace?
For me, it starts with accountability. Leaders must hold themselves responsible for ensuring gender equity across all levels of their organizations. This means actively working to eliminate unconscious bias in hiring and promotion practices, advocating for policies that support work-life balance, and ensuring equal pay for equal work. Leaders must also create mentorship opportunities, provide training, and foster a culture where every employee, regardless of gender, feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their potential. It’s about more than just talking; it’s about creating actionable changes and inspiring others to do the same.
Can you share your top tips for entrepreneurial/managerial/leadership success?
These principles have been my guidepost, and they’ve led me to success in both my professional and personal life.
What’s the most important piece of advice you’d give to a woman thinking of starting a career at leadership level?
Believe in yourself. Don’t let self-doubt hold you back. Leadership isn’t about being perfect; it’s about being resilient, visionary, and inspiring others to follow your lead. Step outside your comfort zone, embrace challenges, and take risks. Leadership is about creating change and empowering those around you to do the same. Seek mentors who will champion your growth, stay focused on your goals, and never underestimate the incredible value you bring to the table.
Have there been any role models through your life (work or professional) who have helped shape you as a leader?
I’ve been fortunate to learn from visionary leaders—those who challenge the status quo, take bold risks, and inspire others to think beyond the conventional. But perhaps the most profound lessons have come from the diverse teams I’ve led and the rich cultures I’ve been immersed in. I’ve learned the true meaning of leadership through empathy, resilience, and commitment to empowerment that I’ve seen in others. These role models have not only shaped my career, but they’ve inspired me to give back, to mentor, and to create spaces where others can thrive.
