Leadership series: Constantinos Malaou

Our Leadership Series features in-depth interviews with exceptional and inspiring industry leaders.

Here, we are talking to Constantinos Malaou, Business Development Director at Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort.

Tell us about yourself and your business.

Hospitality has been my passion for over 20 years. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working across Food & Beverage, Front Office, Rooms Division, Operations, and Business Development, which has given me a comprehensive understanding of what truly drives guest satisfaction and business success.

Today, I serve as Business Development Director of Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort, one of Cyprus' most prestigious luxury destinations, developed by Korantina Homes, one of the island's leading real estate and destination developers. Since opening in June 2022, Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort has rapidly emerged as a benchmark for luxury hospitality in the Mediterranean, combining world-class accommodation, exceptional experiences, and an unrivalled sense of place.

What inspired your move from operations into business development?

After many years leading resort operations, I wanted to contribute to a larger vision, one that extends beyond daily operations and focuses on long-term growth, international positioning, and brand development.

The opportunity to represent both Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort and Korantina Homes was particularly exciting because we are not simply promoting a hotel. We are building a destination. My role allows me to help elevate Cyprus on the global luxury tourism map while supporting the continued growth of one of the most ambitious hospitality developments in the region.

What does luxury mean to you today?

Luxury has evolved significantly.

Today's discerning traveler seeks far more than beautiful accommodation. True luxury lies in personalized experiences, meaningful connections, authenticity, privacy, and exceptional service.

At Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort, luxury is reflected in every aspect of the guest journey. Whether enjoying our award-winning culinary experiences, spending time at the Horse Ranch, playing at our Top Golf facilities, relaxing by the Mediterranean coastline, enjoying our Waterpark and family experiences, or simply experiencing genuine hospitality, our goal is to create memories that remain long after the stay ends.

Luxury is not about what guests see. It is about how they feel.

What makes Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort unique?

What truly sets Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort apart is that it was conceived as a complete destination, not simply a hotel.

Through the vision of Korantina Homes, we have created a unique resort community that combines luxury hospitality, premium residences, wellness, recreation, gastronomy, and lifestyle experiences within an extraordinary natural setting.

Few destinations in the Mediterranean can offer such a diverse combination of experiences, from luxury accommodation and exclusive villas to Top Golf, a Horse Ranch, Waterpark attractions, wellness facilities, fine dining, and direct access to one of Cyprus' most spectacular coastlines bordering the Akamas region.

Our guests do not simply visit a resort. They become part of a unique community and destination experience.

How do you see the future of luxury hospitality in Cyprus?

I believe Cyprus has all the elements necessary to become one of Europe's leading luxury tourism destinations.

The future belongs to resorts that focus on experiences, sustainability, authenticity, and personalization. Guests are increasingly seeking destinations that offer a complete lifestyle experience rather than accommodation alone.

This philosophy has been at the heart of Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort from day one, creating a destination where hospitality, wellbeing, nature, family experiences, and community come together seamlessly.

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important. How is it reflected in your business?

Sustainability is not an initiative. It is a responsibility.

As a development created by Korantina Homes and located adjacent to the Akamas region, environmental stewardship is central to our long-term vision.

We firmly believe that luxury and sustainability must coexist. Protecting our natural environment, supporting local communities, and ensuring responsible growth are fundamental to our strategy. Future generations should be able to enjoy the same extraordinary landscape and beauty that visitors experience today.

For us, sustainability is an integral part of creating long-term value, not only for our guests, but for Cyprus as a whole.

What motivates you most in your role?

What motivates me most is being part of a project that is transforming the perception of Cyprus as a luxury destination.

Every partnership, every relationship, and every guest experience contributes to the larger ambition of establishing both Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort and Korantina Homes among the most respected names in luxury hospitality and destination development.

There is tremendous satisfaction in knowing that you are helping create something that will leave a lasting legacy.

What is the most important leadership lesson you have learned?

Leadership is ultimately about people.

Facilities and infrastructure are important, but it is people who create exceptional experiences. A leader's role is to inspire, support, and empower others while maintaining a clear vision and purpose.

The most successful organizations are those where people feel valued, trusted, and motivated to give their very best.

Looking ahead, what do you want people to say about Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort in five years' time?

I would like Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort to be recognized not only as one of the finest resorts in Cyprus, but as one of the most respected luxury destinations in the Mediterranean.

I hope people will acknowledge the vision of Korantina Homes in creating a destination where luxury hospitality, sustainability, innovation, wellness, and community coexist in perfect harmony.

Most importantly, I hope our guests remember us for delivering extraordinary experiences, genuine hospitality, and unforgettable memories. If we achieve that, then we will have accomplished our mission.
