Questions to Gita Eggert, Executive PA to Group CEO – ISS World Services

To celebrate International Women’s Day & Women’s History Month, Krishnan asked a few questions to Gita Eggert, Executive PA to Group CEO – ISS World Services

What does IWD mean to you?

IWD is an opportunity to celebrate the social achievements of women and at the same time remember that we still need awareness on the existing gender imbalances

Why haven't we achieved equality, despite legislation in place regarding pay?

I suppose there are many factors. We should perhaps look at a new way of working with more focus on families. I believe that is key for women to see top leadership positions as genuinely attractive and thereby influence equal pay.

How would you advise young women leaders on how to build confidence in their ability as a manager and leader?

Know that all change starts with YOU – and that you can do it. But you don’t need do it alone: find an inspirational mentor.

What advice would you give to the next generation of female leaders?

Same as above

What initiatives should companies invest in to promote women in leadership?

Work-life-balance seen from a family perspective. Initiatives that allow women to be great leaders and the world’s best mothers at the same time.

Do women in our sector have a hard time getting promoted?

Actually, I don’t think so – at a certain organisational level candidates are few, perhaps for the reasons mentioned above.

If you could choose one recommendation for HR leaders to help promote women in the workplace, what would it be?

Look for young talents all over the organisation and then match them with a mentor who can help them find their own way.

How are you paying it forward?

To be honest, I am trying as hard as I can to treat everybody with equal respect, not only women…

Is there a particular leader you look up to?

There are many and they vary.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Believe in yourself and be patient
