When is the best time to look for a job in 2021?

The break between Christmas and New Year is a time when people take stock, re-evaluate and plan for next year. Traditionally it is when people meet with friends and family – there is nothing as motivating as hearing about a friend / cousin / sibling and their new job!

We expect 2021 to be a year of change, there will be a lot of people who would like a fresh start, a lot of people who were displaced through the pandemic and the growth of some sectors (technology) and decline of others (retail)

Traditionally, the first week back to work is when applications are highest (and when recruiters get lots of calls and emails asking how their Christmas breaks were from contacts they have not heard from in a long tie 😉). As with everything this year, things will be different – will people want to move if they have secure jobs? Will employees remain loyal to the employers who supported them through the pandemic? Will those who have been on furlough return – or look for jobs elsewhere?

One thing is clear, 2021 is not going to follow the pattern of every other year and employers and job seekers will have to be more nimble in their approach moving forward. Some articles that might help:
